William Faden, Geographer Royal
Many of the maps in the New Atlas were taken from those of King George III’s official geographer, William Faden. David Rumsey has a large collection of maps by William Faden that demonstrate his style.
The Turkish scholar who composed an 80 page introduction to the maps in the atlas. The map itself was created by unnamed individuals at the Ottoman Military Engineering School (Tab’hane-yi Hümayun). Some old photographs of the school are here.
