The Great Sandy Desert: The second largest desert in Australia, is composed of longitudinal sand dunes, which appear in this drawing. The depiction of weather reflects the unusual climate of the desert. It has some of the hottest temperatures in Australia, as well as fierce thunderstorms during monsoons, which dump an unusual amount of rain, which quickly evaporates. Hence the unusal depiction of wind and rain alongside lengthy dunes.
Papunya: The area west of Alice Springs where the first permanent aboriginal drawings were created using acrylic paint and pointilist style.
The map shows a waterhole in the Great Sandy Desert.
